| Welcome from the Executive Director |

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Social Science Education Consortium. I step into this role with deep respect for the organization’s long and vibrant history, and with great excitement for where we are headed together.
Since its founding in 1963, SSEC has been a community of scholars, educators, and changemakers committed to advancing the social sciences in ways that are rigorous, interdisciplinary, and deeply humanizing. From pioneering curriculum research to convening international dialogues, SSEC has consistently created space for collaborative inquiry and collective action. I am humbled to join this legacy and energized by the opportunity to help shape its next chapter.
At a time when democracy, equity, and public education face profound challenges, the role of social science education is more vital than ever. I believe that SSEC is uniquely positioned to lead and to listen, bringing educators across institutions, borders, and generations into conversation about what just, inclusive, and transformative social science teaching can be.
In the coming months, I look forward to working with our incredible board, members, and partners to continue building on our mission: supporting research, programs, and publications that equip educators and students alike to better understand the world around them. Whether you’re a long-time member or just learning about SSEC, I invite you to explore our resources, attend our events, and help us imagine what’s possible.
With gratitude and in solidarity,
Amy Allen
